Common Earthworm (lumbricus terrestris)
The common earthworm, a member of the genus Lumbricus, is the most commonly found species of earthworm, known in North America as the nightcrawler.
Like all annelids, L. terrestris does not have a skeletal system, but a series of body segments that it uses for locomotion. This species of earthworm is found all over Europe, Canada, and North America, and generally reaches a length of 25 centimeters.
